First off if you’re expecting a little one congratulations and if you’re not I am happy you’re here to know all the ins and outs of being pregnant. Here I’ll be sharing what nobody tells you about pregnancy – the good, the bad, and everything else in between.
You hear about weight gain, nausea, etc but there is much more that you don’t realize until you go through it.
The Physical Changes from Pregnancy
Your feet will be swollen! I wish I was exaggerating, but I’m not. You might as well call your toes little vienna sausages. Befriend compression socks!
Linea nigra will happen. That dark line down your tummy is due to hormones. Surprise surprise!
Your breast will become swollen and sensitive. It will suck. I guess if you were to ask your spouse they’d disagree, but in all seriousness it’s not fun. Ouch!
Your hair changes! It will be long and healthy however don’t get used to it as it changes once again postpartum.

Your areolas will darken and get bigger. But don’t fret this is due to hormone changes and also to prepare your body for your baby. Things will get back to normal afterward.
You’ll deal with hemorrhoids. Ouchie! This one sucks. There’s no other thing to say about it.
You’ll have an itchy belly. Ah, this took me by surprise. Your belly becomes very itchy and apparently for a good reason. Make sure to moisturize that belly.
You might deal with dental issues during pregnancy. Make sure to get checked out by your dentist since this happens due to the hormone changes in your body.
You’ll probably get some stretch marks. Don’t worry about it we all have them. Just embrace them.
The Weird Things That Happen from Being Pregnant
You might get strangers who will want to touch your belly. I don’t get it. It’s not cool, but fair warning to you.
You will have food aversions. That steak you like is now your worst enemy. Okay, I’m exaggerating however, some foods will not be your friends.
Strangers will comment on your body. Ah yes, the good ol’ “Are you sure you’re not having twins.” comment. Ugh, it sucks.
The emotional roller coaster. Your hormones will be out of whack. You’ll be fine one moment and then you’ll cry because your spouse ate the last slice of cake. It’ll indeed happen.
Pregnancy brain/mom brain will happen. And honestly, if I am being truthfully honest it’ll probably stay well after you’ve had your little one.

You’ll have a heightened sense of smell. This was an unexpected symptom no one ever told me about. Don’t be surprised if you smell something from the kitchen on the other side of the house. I am not kidding you’ll have super smell.
People will treat you differently. Dare I say people will be much nicer to you? You’ll have people who will do things for you or are eager to lend a helping hand.
The Other Noteworthy Pregnancy Things
Morning sickness isn’t just in the morning or simply for the first trimester. It can be all day every day, seriously! It downright sucks.
You’ll dislike the baby kicks towards the end of your pregnancy. Don’t get me wrong I loved feeling the baby kick, but once you’re towards the end of it, those kicks become brutal.
Braxton hicks contractions will happen. Is there more to say?
You’ll struggle to fall asleep. That little one inside you will party hard at night. Yes, and it’s not fun. On top of that, you’ll probably have to pee at night too.
You‘ll deal with constipation. Yeah, make sure you get your fiber in! You will need it.
You’ll need frequent bathroom breaks. Yup, as the uterus expands for your baby it’ll cause you to have frequent pee breaks. Not fun but what can you do?
You’ll be tired a lot of time. If you weren’t a napper before getting pregnant now you will and for a good reason. After all, you’re growing a tiny human.
You might deal with heartburn. If you didn’t deal with any heartburn before getting pregnant you’ll probably deal with it now.
Shortness of breath will happen eventually. As the baby grows you’ll struggle to breathe. I found that certain positions made it worse. Ugh!
The nesting instincts will happen. You’ll find yourself wanting to organize things for your little one.
Final Thoughts
Pregnancy is a beautiful thing even with everything you could go through. All the nausea, fatigue, etc will all be worth it in the end.
Have you heard any of these and if not what surprised you the most?

I loved being pregnant and all of the comments that came with it. It was fun talking to so many people. Sometimes the sleepless nights were hard, but even harder once the baby came.

Oh yes! I never realized how sleep deprived I’d be after our son was born. That time was almost a blur to me.
