Valentine’s Day is all about love, fun, and spending time together, and what better way to celebrate than with a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt for kids? Instead of solving clues, this hunt is all about finding special Valentine-themed items, from hearts and flowers to chocolates and teddy bears. It’s easy to set up and fun for everyone, no matter your age.
This scavenger hunt is a perfect way to keep young kids entertained or as an easy screen-free activity they can do on Valentine’s Day to have some fun. If you’re playing with just a few people or the whole family, or while at school, this scavenger hunt will bring everyone lots of fun and excitement this holiday season.
The best part is that you only need to do a little besides printing the Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt at the bottom of the post. It’s that simple. That’s one thing I love about scavenger hunts. They can be done anywhere for really any occasion. This scavenger hunt can be used in the classroom or at home.
What is a Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is a game where people try to find certain items. In this case, everything is Valentine-themed. You are looking for things such as chocolate, a heart, a teddy bear, or a Valentine’s Day card, just to name a few things.
The goal is to find all the items on the list first or the fastest. You can also do a photo scavenger hunt, where your kids look for clues in different locations and take photos of items they find. Of course, this is more suitable for kids with cell phones, but it is another fun way to do this Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt.
Sometimes, the clues are rhyming clues that lead you to your next clue. You do that until you come to the last clue, which can lead you to a gift perfect for kids and adults. In this scavenger hunt, I’ve kept it simple; all you have to do is search for the list of Valentine-themed items instead of having clue cards or any rhyming clues. This way it makes it simple for the younger kids.
That is another great way to do a scavenger hunt. Scavenger hunts are fun activities you can do inside or outside, which makes them great for classroom use or just as fun screen-free activity to do at home.
The best part is that everyone, not just kids, can play and have a blast searching for the items. It’s a perfect way to get everyone involved and have fun together. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone.
How to Do a Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt
There are different ways to do a scavenger hunt, so let me walk you through them. First, decide if the themed scavenger hunt will be inside, outside, or a mix of both. Whichever way you choose to do this depends on you and your location. There is no right or wrong way of doing this.
Decide whether the kids will be in groups or playing by themselves. If they play in groups, have older kids paired with younger kids to make this more fair. This is up to you. Some scavenger hunts include a time limit. If that is the case with this, let the kids know ahead of time. Otherwise, playing by themselves is a good way to keep the kids entertained.
The first person or group to find the Valentine-related items or the most wins. If you want to make this more fun, include a fun surprise for the team or the first person who finds the most items. While not necessary, it would be fun to include for the kids. Such as non-candy treats, stickers, or temporary tattoos, depending on the age of your kids or who are playing. Alternatively, if this is being used for the classroom, things like a pencil, fun-themed erasers, or things of that nature would be a perfect gift for the winner(s) or simply to give at the end of the hunt.
