Let me be truthfully honest pregnancy can drag quite a bit sometimes. After all nine months is a long time. The days will come when you’ll want to do activities just to make the time pass quicker. In this post I’ll be sharing fun things to do while pregnant.
When we think about pregnancy I bet swollen feet and morning sickness are a few things that come to mind, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing fun that comes from being pregnant.
You can do quite a few fun things while being pregnant.
Obviously there will be a few days when you’ll want to chill rather than do anything and understandably so. After all, you’re growing a human being. It’s going to take a lot of work.
On those days you want to help pass the time these activities will be just what you need.
Why Make The Time To Do Fun Things While Pregnant
You’re growing a human being which takes approximately nine months. In those nine months, you’re going through a lot.
Some of which downright sucks.
From being tired from morning to evening and dealing with nausea it’s not fun. The last thing you want to do is feel crappy about your situation. Now more than ever you should be focusing on yourself and taking it easy.
There are fun things that can be done while pregnant that can make it more enjoyable for you. After all in this phase of life, you want to make the best of it.
Outdoor Activities
Have a picnic with your spouse. You’ll have a good time and it’s quite simple to get things ready. Enjoy this time with your spouse before the baby gets here. Make sure to grab some of your favorite foods and drinks and enjoy the day.
Go swimming. It’s low-impact and such a great idea. Swimming helps support the weight of the growing belly, reducing strain on joints, and more. I would also grab a floaty and enjoy a refreshing drink. Doesn’t that sound amazing?
Go on a hike with family. Your activity level might not be what it use to be before, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a nice walk. It’s also a great way to get yourself out of the house.
Crafts and DIY Projects
Do some knitting and sewing. You can start by making blankets, baby clothes, hats, and booties. If you’re new to this try looking up beginner videos online or join a local group around your area. This could be a wonderful way of meeting new people. Maybe you’ll come across another pregnant woman. Who knows?
Make a pregnancy scrapbook. This is a special way of showcasing those memories and it could be a fun way of spending time with your best friend. Don’t skip out on it. You’ll love to look back at it when your baby grows up.
Do an adult paint-by-numbers kit. It’s a good idea and once it is done you can hang it in the nursery. It’s also very relaxing to do.
Belly casting. This is a fun activity you can do with your spouse that lets you create a keepsake of your pregnant belly. Make it a date night. After it’s done drying you can decorate it any way you’d like or keep it simple.
Design your nursery. Look online for inspiration. There are so many themes to choose from. You can go with a neutral theme, a minimalist theme, etc. It’s a fun and relaxing thing you can do with your friends and family.
Fun Activities To Do
Take baby bump pictures. The weekly pictures where you write down how far along you are and what you’re currently craving. Yes, those. You’ll love looking back at those. I know I do.
Go on a shopping spree with friends. This will be a great time spent with your friends. Buy some essential things you need for the baby while you are out with them.
Take a vacation aka babymoon before the baby arrives. Get some quality time with your spouse before the baby arrives. Take this time to relax and reconnect with each other.
Schedule a maternity shoot. It’s fun to dress up from time to time and this would be the perfect time for it. Document this beautiful phase you’re in. Get all dolled up and enjoy this special time with your spouse.
Get a manicure and pedicure. Once the baby arrives who knows when you’ll have time for that? Do it now while you can.
Plan your baby shower. Pick your theme or what you’d like to have at your baby shower. If that stresses you out hand over the responsibilities to someone else. A lot of the time a family member is always more than happy to lend a helping hand.
Have your baby shower. Baby showers are fun as is, but when it’s for you it’s even better. You have all the yummy food, the fun games, and everyone close to you. What’s not to love about it?
Have a game night with your family. Pick your favorite board games. This an excellent way of spending time with them before the new baby arrives.
Have movie night at home. Pick your favorite movies and don’t forget about the treats and if it were me I would be in my comfortable jammies.
Wellness Activities
Have a spa day. Make an appointment to get your hair done and while you’re at it treat yourself to a facial. We need to spoil ourselves because if we don’t who will?
Try prenatal yoga or a Pilates class. Staying active while pregnant has a lot of benefits. Try finding a local group around your area. If there isn’t one look online for some.
Go get a prenatal massage. It can help alleviate common aches such as back pain, joint pain, and more. Make sure your massage therapist is certified in prenatal massage as well. Specially when you move onto the second trimester and third trimester this will definitely help with those pregnancy aches.
Of course, always consult with your healthcare provider before doing any of these.
Other Mentionable Activities
Have date nights with your spouse. Make the time to date your spouse more often because once the baby arrives it’ll be hard to find the time.
Make your baby registry. Taking the time to make a baby registry can be fun while keeping track of what’s needed. I would suggest having at least two different stores to pick from. Not everyone likes shopping from one store and it gives you more options to choose from as well.
Pick out baby names. Picking out a name is another fun thing to do. Go to the library and find yourself some baby name books and see what catches your attention. Sit down with your spouse and go through every possible name combination. This also is another way of spending quality time with your spouse.
Start journaling about your pregnancy. Start by writing down how you’re feeling, the cravings you are having, everything else you can think of. This can be done even after the baby is born.
Take childbirth and parenting classes. This will ease your mind and you’ll be more prepared for what’s to come. They educate you on what to expect during labor and delivery, newborn care, breastfeeding, and more.
