If you struggle to get yourself motivated to workout you’re not alone. I’ll be sharing simple ways on how to get motivated to workout.
I don’t always wake up motivated. Some days I would rather binge watch my favorite show and be snuggled up on the couch. Let’s be real.
Having said that I know that moving my body is very beneficial. Any time I get a workout in I know my day is going to be productive. Some days are easier to get my workout in and other times I need some motivation to get me moving.
There will be days when you’re just better off not working out like when you’re sick. In that case listen to your body and rest. Don’t try to force yourself to do something that clearly is not going to work out.
Other than that here are some things that can help you.
Things That Will Help You Get Motivated To Workout
- A good playlist. Put your favorite songs on and blast that music. I always like to listen to songs I haven’t heard in years.
- Buying new workout clothes. If you don’t want to get new clothes just put your favorite workout outfit on. Boom!
- Buying new workout equipment. Maybe new dumbbells or a stronger resistance band.
- Knowing your WHY. Write down a few reasons why you are working out and find that one reason why you keep showing up for yourself. That one reason that gets you choked up is your WHY. Write that down and put that some where you can see it daily.
- Having a workout buddy. Find yourself a workout buddy that will keep you accountable. Even if it isn’t someone who is close to you. You can probably find a friend from social media who would interested in being your accountability partner.
- Changing your mindset. If you go into it thinking of it as a dreaded chore it’s not going to be something you like. Change the way you look at it. Do it because you know you’re getting healthier and stronger. Fitness is a journey, not a destination.
- Setting goals that are attainable. Don’t go into something thinking you’re going to do xy & z in a short amount of time. When in reality things take time. Start with small goals first.
- Getting competitive. Yes yes! Be competitive with yourself or a friend.
- Using the 10 minute rule. If you’re not feeling it give yourself at least a good ten minutes of working out and if by then you’re still not feeling that workout then stop. Most of the time by then I feel motivated enough to actually finish the workout.
- Having fun. Do the things that you enjoy. If that means pilates then do that.
Final Thoughts
Do the things you enjoy and it won’t seem like another dreaded thing you have to do. Working out can be anything that’s gets you moving.
Maybe it’s just me, but you never regret the workout you didn’t skip. Those are the workouts that will end up being the best. I know for me that’s usually the case.
If this was helpful to you let me know down below. Also if you have other ways of getting motivated share that with me. I would love to hear it.
